Read chapter on E.A. Robinson and all his poems in our textbook. (Alternatively, read this resource, and all of the poems it links to.)
Read Stanza in The Princeton Encyclopedia of Poetry and Poetics.
Write a 250 word essay in which you offer an interpretation of one of E.A. Robinson's poems, and then analyze how he used poetic form and aspects of sound strategically in ways that support that interpretation. Consider stanza structure, rhyme, rhythm, metrical patterns, alliteration, consonance, assonance, repetition of words, phrases, lines, etc. in your analysis. Don't try to hit all points in the essay. Analyze everything, but then use what contributes to your analysis and argument.

Post your 250-word essay before class (description above).
Read 2 classmates' essays and Robinson poems-- at least one should be on a different poem than you wrote about-- and respond substantively, elaborating on the poetic devices you notice in the poems. This is due by the end of the day Friday, September 6.
